Alan W. J. Burns

Alan passed away peacefully in his Oaklyn, NJ home on November 26, 2016. He was born in 1925 in Philadelphia and grew up in West Oak Lane. He graduated from Central High School and earned his MS in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University. He enjoyed a long career at Masland Dura Leather Company in Philadelphia, managing a laboratory. Some of his greatest pleasures were gardening and poetry. His memory was astonishing, often demonstrated when he quoted long poems memorized many decades ago.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife Audrey S. Burns (nee Schultz), along with his loving sons Mike and wife Adrienne as well as Mark and his wife Mya. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters Leah, Sara, Sophia and Serena. He was preceded in death by his dear daughter Patricia Burns.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the CRERAN FUNERAL HOME, 400 WHITE HORSE PIKE, OAKLYN, NJ. Mr. Burns' Funeral Service will be held 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (http://www.alz.org/delval/).
