William Etherington
Started in 1915 by Charles Etherington, Etherington Funeral Home was passed down to William and Howard Etherington. Howard Etherington died in the early 1970's and William became the sole owner.

Mr. Howard Creran began working for William Etherington at the funeral home in1952. Mr. Creran was the "back room" guy. As time went by, Mr. Creran's role in the funeral home grew. He began meeting wit h the families and directing funerals. He also became more involved in the business portion and running of the funeral home.

After Howard Creran Jr. earned his funeral directing license, he also became part of the staff at Etherington Funeral Home. In 1983, Mr. Creran along with this son Howard Jr., purchased the business from William Etherington.

As Mr. Creran planned to retire (which he never truly did), Howard Jr. became the sole owner of EFH in 1998.

In memory of Mr. Creran, who gave so much of his time to the community of Gloucester, Etherington Funeral Home will be renamed Etherington-Creran Funeral Home. A family owned and operated funeral home since 1915.
