A
1900 Victorian Home, this building was purchased and converted into
a funeral home by Mr. Howard Creran in 1952.
Mr. and Mrs. Creran lived upstairs and raised their family, as Mr.
Creran started his business. As this business was becoming established,
Mr. Creran also worked for Etherington Funeral Home in Gloucester
City.
After Howard Jr. obtained his Funeral Directing license he began working
for his father in the family business. Howard Jr. worked in both the
Creran Funeral Home in Oaklyn, as well as the Etherington Funeral
Home in Gloucester City.
In 1983 Mr. Creran and Howard Jr. purchased the Etherington Funeral
Home from Mr. Etherington. In 1986 Howard Jr. became the sole owner
of Creran Funeral Home. Then in 1998, Howard Jr. became the sole owner
of Etherington Funeral Home. These two funeral homes became incorporated
under Creran In in 1998. Creran Funeral Home remains a family owned
